The International Society for Quantitative Ethnography (ISQE) condemns systemic racism in the treatment of Black people and communities in the U.S. and worldwide. We express our solidarity with peaceful, non-violent protesters around the world and in the Black Lives Matter movement.
As part of our commitment to anti-racism, we recognize that racial discrimination is pervasive in society and in academic institutions. Systemic racism influences our colleagues daily, and we must constantly listen, learn and reflect on how to identify and eliminate racism in our institutions and in the world. As a scientific society, we must work towards expanding our understanding of the experiences and challenges of minoritized communities, and towards creating an equitable and just environment for academics and for people our work impacts. The ISQE board is committed to removing racism both from our own activities and from the contexts we study.
